Wild Coast Escapes trail running break FAQ's
-
Am I fit enough? So long as you have a positive attitude and are generally fit and in good health, then yes! Our guides will tailor the routes, distances and speed in order to ensure all guests get the most of their time with us. We do however ask that you are reasonably confident in the open water, (speed does not matter). If you are at all unsure, do get in touch and we will happily talk it through.
-
Who is Wild Coast Escapes for?If you are looking to take your exercise off-grid and relish the idea of swimming in the open water and running along rugged trails with other like-minded folk, with some of the best guides in the business, then a Devon Coast Escape has your name all over it. This is not a luxury spa retreat and there are no fluffy white robes or room service! Neither is it a boot camp for adrenaline junkies. You will be here because you love it, not because you feel you should. You know who you are! Our evening speakers are there to offer new insights, as well as inspiration about the activities you will undertake and will answer any questions you may have. We want you to exceed your self limitations, as well as take away tools to improve your game. Underlying everything however, is your own personal enjoyment.
-
What’s included? Our costs are per person for 3 nights. This covers transfers to/from Totnes train station, all meals, snacks, 3 nights accommodation, expert guides, speakers, activities, tuition and swim safety team.
-

Sample DayThis is just to give you an idea of the sort of thing that you can expect. We will not provide you with a strict schedule as we want you to enjoy the ‘here and now’ and not be thinking of what you will be doing next. Your day will start early with a swim coaching session in the River Dart Hearty breakfast An 8 mile to 13 mile coastal trail run (or trot/walk-run/amble, speed and distance to suit you) Lunch on the beach An hour yoga session Time to chill out in the hot tubs or take a walk in the surrounding woods Organic, locally sourced 2-course dinner Ask the expert after dinner session .
-
Dietary RequirementsOur catering is all locally sourced, organic and vegan. We can cater for any dietary requirements we just ask that you inform us at least 1 week prior to attending.
-
BoozeWild Coast Escapes is not run by nuns! Over the weekend we will provide you with a couple of beers and glasses of wine for those that wish to partake. You are very welcome to bring your own booze if you do enjoy a certain post workout tipple.
-
What do I need to bring?Once you are booked on, we will send you over a full kit list, but the important things to note is that you will need trail running shoes (or walking boots) and a wetsuit that you can swim in together with goggles and a swim cap (optional).
-
Getting there and awayWe are located 5 minutes drive from Totnes train station in South Devon, where we can collect you and drop you off. Alternatively there is plenty of parking at the accommodation if you are arriving under your own steam.
-
TimingsThe escape will start from early Friday evening (enough time for a pre-dinner run) and finish late morning on the Monday. Of course we are completely flexible if you need to arrive late or depart early.
-
The Weather and TidesCome rain or shine we will be out in whatever the elements throw at us. Probably best to turn-up expecting torrential downpours and wild winds and that way no one will be disappointed! We will obviously have to work around the tides and sea conditions, if we can’t get safely out into the open waters, the Rivers Dart and Avon offers a good alternative.

What is your Covid-19 Policy? We have completed a full risk assessment. You will be sent our Peace of Mind Covid policy in line with current Government guidelines upon booking.
